Metabolic Syndrome and Fatty Liver

Obesity is the accumulation of excess body fat in the adipose tissue. Metabolic syndrome occurs when the excess body fat begins to occur in the liver and the muscles resulting in severe insulin resistance. Currently 25% of the U.S. adult population has a fatty liver disease and 35% of the U.S. adult population has metabolic syndrome. Left untreated, metabolic syndrome will become type 2 diabetes with 10-15 years.
