Having been to the olive oil farms in Puglia, the article is correct that authentic Italian olive oil is truly unique.  Unfortunately, the article is also correct in that virtually all the “extra-virgin” olive oil in America is far from the real thing both in taste and polyphenol content.

It is very hard to take a high-polyphenol olive oil if there is no labeling on the bottle.  Unfortunately, the really good olive oil never leaves Italy to make it to America.  You also know that by its superior taste.
