It’s nice to see Time finally acknowledging a linkage between inflammation, insulin resistance, and Alzheimer’s. My new book, “The Mediterranean Zone,†explores that linkage in far greater detail.
Your best use of cardiovascular exercise is to do interval training. It isharder, but you have a far greater benefit in lowering insulin resistance and thus greater fat loss.
The key to fat loss is balancing the protein-to-glycemic load of a meal. That will generate greater satiety, which means you are less hungry and cutting back on calories becomes much easier.
The breakfast was OK, but the lunch and dinner could have generated more nutrition with greater satiety. I have always said it is possible to follow the Zone Diet using fast food, although your choices may be very limited.
The key to weight loss (really fat loss) is never being hungry in the first place. It’s called satiety. The best-balanced meal will only control the hormones (insulin and glucagon) that control blood sugar levels for about 5 hours. But the key is balance to maintain that hormonal control throughout the day.
Vitamin D remains to be marker of general health, therefore its association to premature death is reasonable but not a cause.
Gamma tocopherol is a much better anti-oxidant than alpha tocopherol. nn
Again this is an association, not a causality. Usually low vitamin D indicates that the mother is in general poor health. Therefore it is not unlikely that her off-spring will also be in the same health condition.n
Again, this only indicates that low Vitamin D is a marker for poor health in general.
