I am continually amazed how an inconsequential product like krill oil that is very low in EPA and DHA continues to get press headlines.  The real take-home message of this article is that fish stocks for omega-3 fatty acids are decreasing.  A recent article indicated that if all fish oil was used only for human consumption, then there would only be enough fish oil for 6% of world population to obtain the same levels of EPA and DHA as found in the Japanese population.  Soon we will have two populations; one with adequate levels of EPA and DHA and those that don’t.  This will generate cognitive and inflammatory control inequality.

You note that fish stocks for omega-3 fatty acids are decreasing……

Is there an ecologically sound method for getting sufficient EPA/DHA? Or should we pursue our own health and not have any concern for those who can’t afford/obtain your fish oil?
