One gram of fish oil is not going to do much.  Harvard Medical School demonstrated in 1989 that it takes about 5 grams of EPA and DHA per day to reduce tumor-necrosis factor (TNF), which drives rheumatoid arthritis.  This is why the biggest-selling biological drugs to treat rheumatoid arthritis are injectable monoclonals that reduce it to the same extent as oral high-dose fish oil.
