What truly makes a food addictive is not the sugar or even the fat (especially saturated fats like palmitic acid), but the combination.  Both sugar and fat can interact with their receptors in the tongue to sent a direct messages to the hedonic reward center in the hypothalamus to eat them as rapidly as possible.  This is usually a reinforcing signal until the food is totally consumed. Soda because of their lack of fat are probably the least rewarding of the food mentioned.
