Impulsive behavior is the cause of a lot of harm, including mortality.  ADHD has a strong genetic component but even a higher dietary one in terms of low levels omega-3 fatty acids.  There is some evidence that individuals with ADHD metabolize omega-3 fatty acids at a faster rate, leaving their blood levels lower than normal.  This is why studies using high-dose fish oil in these individuals lead to such positive results.
