Fish Oil Benefits: Here’s What You Need To Know

It's been drilled into our heads by doctors for years that a fish-rich diet is actually good for our bodies. It's suggested that we eat fatty fish that are also lower in mercury -- like salmon, trout, sardines and tuna -- at least two to three times a week or take fish oil supplements regularly to improve heart health, boost memory and even increase sperm count.

The benefits of adequate levels of omega-3 fatty acids for the skin include the reduction of breakdown of collagen and elastin, thus preventing wrinkles, and the retention of stored fat by the dermal fat cells.  Both are the result of the reduction of inflammation and increase in resolution in the skin.  The key is how much.  You will usually need at least 5 grams of EPA and DHA to see a benefit.
