Fish Oil Switches Cancer Genes Off  

Like omega-6 cooking oils, omega-3 oils, such as fish oil, are highly unsaturated (polyunsaturated), and are prone to easy oxidation. Despite this, they can produce significant anti-inflammatory effects. Unoxidized omega-3 oil reduces inflammation by several mechanisms, such as reducing the production of the inflammatory chemical PGE2, and by producing the anti-inflammatory substances resolvin and protectin.

Combining fish oils with polyphenols makes excellent sense as polyphenols are gene activators.  The problem with giving butyrate to humans is that it is the primary constituent of vomit and needs to be produced in the colon for optimal gut health.
