Could Gene Therapy Cure Heart Disease?

The human heart beats more than 100,000 times every day, pumping almost 2,000 gallons of oxygen-rich blood through the aorta to the rest of the body. About 5 percent of that flow finds its way to two major vessels-the coronary arteries-which channel it to a network of progressively smaller blood vessels that feed each fiber of the cardiac muscle.

Dr. Sears Comments:

Dr. Barry Sears

You don’t need future gene therapy to regenerate heart tissue, just adequate levels of resolvins that generate resolution of inflammation. The way to increase resolvin levels is by consuming higher levels of EPA and DHA. The ideal amount is determined by your AA/EPA ratio. Ideally it should be approximately 1.5. For most  Americans that will be about 7.5 grams of EPA and DHA per day.

Dr Sears – I took your AA/EPA ratio test and received a 4.3 with a result date of 2-08-17. Can I assume my DHA would have been satisfactory? Can I do my 10 minute consultation by email? I know adding another fish oil capsule would get me into the 1 to 3 range. Is GLA still a concern? Thanks. – James Taylor

The DHA levels will always be equal, if not greater, than the EPA levels. Of course you can do it by email, just contact Dave at dschreck@zoneliving.com and send your results with the email. If you can get into 1-3 range, the improvement of resolvins will be the key to better health.
