Head-Start Program Might Help Fight Childhood Obesity: Study

MONDAY, Jan. 12, 2015 (HealthDay News) -- School readiness isn't the only benefit young children can gain from Head Start. A new study finds that kids in the U.S. preschool program tend to have a healthier weight by kindergarten than similarly aged kids not in the program.

I would hardly call the nutrition served in Head-Start programs good nutrition.  But compared to what the kids are otherwise eating, it is probably better.  If you want to give underprivileged children a true head start, feed them an anti-inflammatory diet and give them anti-inflammatory meals to eat at home.
