Since it has been shown that pregnant American women has less than optimal levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood, supplementation makes excellent sense. My recommendation of 2.5 grams of EPA and DHA per day for a pregnant woman was confirmed by a recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine indicating lower levels of auto-immune disorders in the children of those women who supplemented their diet with that level of omega-3 fatty acids.
