Imaging May Aid in Predicting MS Progression.

A measurement obtained through MR spectroscopy appeared to predict disability progression in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients, a preliminary study showed. The ratio of myo-inositol to N-acetylaspartate (mI:NAA) in normal-appearing white matter was significantly associated with subsequent increases in Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores and brain atrophy, and with the onset of 12-month sustained clinical disability progression, according to Daniel Pelletier, MD, of Yale University and colleagues.

Even with better imaging, you still have to have a treatment for preventing the progression of multiple sclerosis. High-dose fish oil is a good starting point.
