Increased Public Awareness Sparks Surge in Traumatic Brain Injury Research

Between the battlefield and the athletic field, the topic of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) has been much in the news in recent years. America's protracted wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to figures compiled by the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center, contributed to roughly 60,000 deployment-related diagnoses of TBI, from blasts and other causes, in US military personnel since 2000.

It is amazing to me with all the interest in traumatic brain injury research no seems to have read the peer-reviewed articles (Sears et a PharmaNutrition 1:86-89 (2013)) I have written on the use of high-dose fish oil to treat traumatic brain trauma in humans over the past six years or in treating concussion injuries induced in mice (Mills et al J Neurosurgery 114:77-84 (2013)).
