Is there a link between climate change and diabetes?

As more health researchers investigate climate change, a new study suggests that the incidence of Type 2 diabetes increases with higher outdoor temperatures.

Although there is an association between climate change and diabetes, it is unlikely there is a causality.  The increase in the diabetes epidemic represents a 15-year lag from the beginning of the increase in obesity. That is the expected time frame for inflammation to spread from the adipose tissue to the pancreas causing the destruction of the beta cells necessary to make insulin.
