Long-Term Study of Gilenya Shows Positive Results in MS Treatment

Fingolimod (Gilenya) is a medication taken by mouth to treat symptoms of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). It helps lessen the occurrence of symptoms of RRMS. These symptoms can include: muscle spasms weakness and numbness bladder control problems problems with speech and vision Fingolimod also works to delay physical disability that can be caused by RRMS. As with all drugs, fingolimod can cause side effects.

Whatever happened to double-blind, placebo-controlled trials that are the basis of evidence-based medicine.  Comparing two relatively weak drugs without including a placebo arm for both is pathetic research.
