Lowering Diabetes Risk After Pregnancy

About nine percent of pregnant women have gestational diabetes, which usually goes away after they give birth. But about half these women will develop Type 2 diabetes later in life. A new study suggests two ways to significantly reduce the risk.

Rather than taking a drug during pregnancy, it seems more intelligent to have an expectant mother at high risk to follow an anti-inflammatory diet as recommended by the Joslin Diabetes Research Center or the Zone Diet since they are both essentially identical.
