Maqui works because it contains a special class of polyphenols known as delphinidins.  The more purified the delphinidins, the greater the activity. Freezing drying the maqui berry only provides a low level of delphinidins. Once you purify them by column chromatography only then do you  get a truly “super-polyphenol” product.
