High levels of sugar as well as bread, pizza, and pasta will increase insulin levels.  That by itself is not sufficient to induce obesity.  But if that elevated insulin interacts with excess omega-6 fatty acids, then you get increased inflammation that disrupts hormonal communication in the hypothalamus that leads to increased hunger.
