‘No head trauma is good head trauma’: The impact of tackle sports on young kids

The age at which boys start playing tackle football may have a big impact on brain health later in life, a new study suggests. Former NFL players who started playing tackle football before the age of 12 were at a higher risk of altered brain development compared to those who stared later in life, according to the study published in the Journal of Neurotrauma.

I would agree with the recommendations of no head contact in sports before at the age of 14.  It should be also noted that the quality of coaching of kids before the age of 14 is also suspect.
