How Obesity Can Affect Your Heart

If you're above your ideal body weight and worried about your health, you aren't alone. In 2010, there were more than 78 million adults in the U.S. alone with obesity. And it's estimated that more than two-thirds of the U.S. adult population is either overweight or obese.

The reason that obesity affects your heart is inflammation.  The inflammation in the fat cells can spread a like cancer to accelerate inflammation in other organs like the heart as well as the brain and pancreas. Losing weight is hard, but reducing inflammation is easier if you are taking adequate levels of EPA and DHA.  For the obese individual, that will be at least 5 grams of EPA and DHA per day.
