Obesity: The Epidemic

What has more of an influence on obesity, nature or nurture? In a study that included more than 5,000 identical and non-identical twin pairs, researchers found heredity to be a much bigger predictor of childhood obesity than lifestyle.

The high linkage of genetics to obesity is difficult to explain the recent epidemic rise, unless something in the diet is turning on those genes to cause the rapid rise in fat accumulation.  My best guess is increased inflammation due to omega-6 fatty acids in the diet and decreased resolution of that inflammation that requires omega-3 fatty acids in the diet.
