Obesity gene discovery could lead to new treatments

Scientists have finally figured out how the key gene tied to obesity makes people fat, a major discovery that could open the door to an entirely new approach to the problem beyond diet and exercise.

A couple of problems with the FTO gene.  First, a difference of 7 pounds is not very much. Second, it is probably under some type of epigenetic control.  Third, it ignores the role of inflammation in both insulin resistance and lack of satiety.
