The only problem with cocoa polyphenols is that they are rich in cadmium and lead.  However cocoa polyphenol extracts can overcome both problems.  We have developed such a cocoa polyphenol extract that has GRAS status, meaning it can be incorporated into food products as you have to deliver about 2 grams of cocoa polyphenols to get the cognitive benefits.
