Slash sugar intake to fight obesity, tooth decay: WHO

GENEVA Adults and children from the Americas to Western Europe and the Middle East must roughly halve the amount of sugar they consume to lower risk of obesity and tooth decay, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday.

Asking the processed food industry to slash sugar is the equivalent to asking it to slash profits. If you reduce sugar, then processed foods will have to increase salt and fat (especially inflammatory fat) to maintain products desirable to the consumer.
