Stimulant boosts function in patients recovering from depression

LONDON (Reuters) - People recovering from depression but struggling with its effect on memory, concentration and cognitive function may benefit from the stimulant modafinil, according to results of a small study published on Tuesday. Modafinil is a generic drug usually prescribed for sleep disorders such as narcolepsy.

Mondafinil is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor to promote wakefulness. It is used by the U.S. Air Force for long-term flights (like those of B-2 bombers) and it significant improvement over “go pills” (dexedrine which is an amphetamine) they have used in the past.  If you want to improve depression, then I believe high-dose fish oil is a far better alternative.
