Tests May Help Spot Brain Damage After Even Mild Concussions

(Reuters Health) - Brain scans may help identify athletes who suffer from brain damage after mild concussions, a small study of current and former professional football players suggests.

To quote from the author of the study, “Prolonged brain inflammation (chronic microglia activation) is likely a key component to myriad neurological diseases and perhaps even normal brain aging.”  Very few inflammatory agents can pass the blood-brain-barrier.  One  of those is high dose fish oil.  The omega-3 fatty acids in high enough concentrations can increase the formation of resolvins in the brain that will reduce the neuro-inflammation.
