The Alzheimer’s epidemic: Where we stand.

As the Alzheimer's Association International Conference kicks off Saturday in Copenhagen, Denmark, one thing is clear: There is a tremendous public health need for Alzheimer's treatments, but efforts have stalled in the past few years as high-profile programs failed in their late stages.

The answer is pathetic. More than 99% of Alzheimer’s fail, and those that “work” don’t work very well. With our current diabetes epidemic plan for an Alzheimer’s tsunami in 20 years. However, since Alzheimer’s is an inflammatory disease, it makes sense that an anti-inflammatory diet, highly enriched in anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids may be our only drug in the future.
