Strokes can be considered brain attacks as they share the same underlying cause as heart attacks; increased inflammation. The best way to reduce the risk for any stroke is to reduced inflammation.  For that you need a defined anti-inflammatory diet like the Zone Diet. The best way to repair existing damage is to increase resolution.  For that you need adequate levels of EPA and DHA (at least 2.5 grams per day) to provide the building blocks to make resolvins and promote resolution of existing inflammation.
