Vitamin D deficiency not the cause of heart disease: study

The belief that Vitamin D deficiency caused by lack of sunshine provokes heart disease and winter deaths has been challenged by researchers in Scotland. Vitamin D levels, says the research team hailing from the University of Dundee, are not a key factor in cardiovascular disease and winter deaths.

Vitamin D is usually a good general indicator of overall health.  Intervention trials with Vitamin D in a wide number of chronic disease conditions have had universally poor outcomes.
