The only way to lose excess body fat is to eat less calories.  The only way to keep excess fat from being regained is to never to be hunger or fatigued while maintain the same level of calorie restriction.  That requires lifelong hormonal control, and especially in controlling inflammation of the energy-balance system in the hypothalamus.
