Snacks vs. meals

Q: The guidelines for me say eat three meals and two snacks. My lifestyle and schedule would better support a normal breakfast meal followed by four larger snack-sized meals. Is it inadvisable to spread my blocks evenly over the day rather than have three multi-block meals and two one-block snacks?
A: You have an excellent strategy. We suggest three meals and two snacks because that is what most people can adapt to. Ideally, smaller, more frequent meals are best since you are distributing your caloric needs throughout the day and maintaining insulin levels that are not too high and not too low.
