Liver disorders

Last Updated Nov 2007

Q: I checked my blood for hepatitis and found that I have B in my blood, but I don’t have any symptoms at all, my liver function is OK, and ultrasound shows everything’s OK. I read some articles saying that even when someone is cured from this problem, his blood will always have positive results. This is an American study that says even if there are no symptoms or sickness, the infected people will show a positive result. I was an alcoholic until 10 years ago. Do you suggest anything?

A:Hepatitis B comes from a viral infection, which means it is embedded in your DNA forever. However, you can reduce its replication by following an anti-inflammatory diet. I would strongly recommend you follow the Zone Diet coupled with about 5 grams of EPA and DHA per day to maintain your liver function and reduce the likelihood of any increased viral replication.
