Migraines

Last Updated Jan 2008

Q: I am a 60-year-old woman suffering with chronic migraines. My acupuncture doctor suggested I take OmegaRx capsules. I have been taking six capsules a day for the last six months. I would like to know what you would suggest as the number of capsules to take. I have found other benefits from taking OmegaRx; however, my migraines are still much the same. I take Imitrex for the migraines, which does work reasonably well if I catch one starting in time. Although no longer taking these medicines, a neurologist first prescribed low dosages of anti-depressants for migraine treatment. This didn't help so I was then prescribed beta-blockers which also didn't help. Any suggestions you have would be welcome. My diet is pretty much your Zone Diet.

Dear Caroline,

A: I would suggest supplementing with 7.5grams/daily of OmegaRx. That would be 12 capsules or about 1 tablespoon of OmegaRx liquid. To maximize your benefit follow these guidelines: http://www.zonediet.com/PYRAMID/WellnessPyramid/tabid/106/Default.aspx
