Q: Dear Dr Sears,
Thanks for changing my life. Since I have been on the Zone, I've lost 55 pounds over 10 months. I do a 3X20 minute aerobic workout on the Stairmaster daily. My Labs:
11/01/07 Chol=144 TG=65 HDL=46
01/18/08 Chol=134 TG=46 HDL=37
I am fairly rigid about Zone block equivalents. I have been taking about 2-3 ounces 100% Cocoa, Red Wine Extract, Grape Seed Extract, and Ginkgo Biloba about 5-10 grams/day, Inositol 10-20 grams/day. (I find the GB and Inositol reduce my tinnitus)
Eating lots of mixed nuts, no walnuts, and have been adding 5 Borage tablets (300mg GLA) to my new bottles of your Fish Oil, which I take about 2 TBSP q 12H. Any reason why my HDL keeps dropping? (I assume you will tell me to increase MUFA intake.)
Cheers...yours is the first realistic biochemical diet. My lipid chemistry studies were under Dr Popjak at UCLA circa 1975.
Bruce
A: Dear Bruce
You’re right. You have to increase your intake of monounsaturated fat. Also thank you for your kind comments on the program.
