OmegaRx and Bone Support

Last Updated Feb 2008

Q: Is there Vitamin D in your supplements?  If so, how much?  Can you also send me the ingredients in the Bone formula so I can see the amounts in the cofactors too? What is you opinion about relationship of calcium and magnesium and cofactors in building bone density.  I am confused as I see from one-half to two times as much magnesium related to calcium. Vitamin D seems to be a factor, too, from RDA of 400 to practitioners’ recommendations of 5,000 to 10,000 IUs.  Can you help clarify for me?

A: There are 200 IUs of Vitamin D in the Bone Support. All the ingredients of the Bone Support can be found at zoneliving.com. You need a combination of calcium and magnesium to maintain bone health, and that’s why all the focus on calcium alone will give less than optimal results. You don’t need mega doses of any one nutrient, just the right combination of all. However, the primary cause of osteoporosis is increased silent inflammation, and that is best corrected by the combination of the Zone Diet and high-dose fish oil.
