Supplements

Last Updated Mar 2008

Q: My husband is 75 years young and currently takes 1 teaspoon OmegaRx and 1 teaspoon EicoRx plus 1 capful of SeaHealth Plus per day. (He had his gallbladder removed several years ago, takes meds for atrial fib, has osteo arthritis but only takes Tylenol for it due to interaction with meds.)  He takes Warfarin, Digoxin, Flecainide, and Simvastatin. Would you recommend your Osteo Support so he can get off the Tylenol or could it cause problems with other meds? He would also like to get off statins. Are we on the right track with the OmegaRx and Eico quantities? (More oil seems to cause slight leakage.) His doctor is of no help with anything other than prescriptions, so we're on our own figuring this out. (Can you recommend a doctor in New Hampshire?
A: The Bone Support will have little effect on the arthritis, but the magnesium in that product will have a great cardiovascular benefits. I would suggest checking the cholesterol levels in a few months, and then in consultation with your physician, consider reducing the amount of the statin as the overall cholesterol levels are reduced. At this point in time, I don’t have any physicians in New Hampshire who have passed my certification test in anti-inflammatory medicine.
