Large daily block requirement and calorie intake

Last Updated Apr 2008

Q: Hi, my statistics are as follows: Weight 290 pounds, height 6-1, wrist 8', waist 50. Using the manual method and the calculator, I get a 22 daily block requirement as I work out 5-6 times a week now. Given this high requirement, I will need to eat more than four blocks at at least one of my meals. That is going to put me over 500 calories is it not? I estimate I will need 6-plus meals/snacks to hit that requirement. Am I mis-calculating?

Dear Joseph,

Q: That statement refers to the average person. You, like many elite athletes, require more blocks/calories. Going over the 500-calorie limit should not be a problem. However, consider five four-block meals (breakfast/mid-morning/lunch/mid-afternoon/dinner) and a two- block late night snack.
