Chelation therapy

Last Updated Jun 2008

Q: I have been reading about intravenous (IV) EDTA chelation therapy and intravenous hydrogen peroxide therapy. Are these procedures safe? From all I have read, they can help heart patients tremendously, plus many other ailments.

Thank You, Don B.

Dear Don,

A recent $40 million clinical trial has shown the procedure to have little impact on heart disease. I am always leery of any type of intravenous injection. The best approach is to reduce silent inflammation by following the Zone Diet coupled with high-dose fish oil.
