The Zone brought him back to health

Last Updated Jul 2008

On Aug. 18, 2006, I left my job as a chemist in Cranbury, NJ, and proceeded to start riding my transit bike to the train station. I had to get home, wolf down an unhealthy quick meal and get ready for my second job as a professional disc jockey. Things were both time-tight because of my occupation, and because I was getting married in three weeks! And, while I was riding my bike, the woman I was marrying was just beginning her final wedding dress fitting!

But.....something happened! On the road next to the bike path there was a horrific accident! One car hit another, spun it on its side, and guess what happened next? The car (on its side), going 45 mph, hit me on my bike! I flew 50 feet in the air and landed on MY HEAD! Needless to say, the wedding had to be postponed, as I was in a coma and on life-support on my wedding day!

As far as the wedding -- we got married!!!

!!!! It was amazing!!!

Now, for The Zone angle of all this. Before my accident, I was a horrible eater. Because of that, I incurred sleep problems and numerous other diet-related problems. As Dr. Sears would say. I was prone to inflammation!  And, like the normal person out there, I would not be aware of this until it was too late.

Among many physical injuries (broken ribs, punctured lungs, ruptured spleen, nasal and facial fractures) I incurred because of this accident, my other injury was traumatic brain Injury. In light of TBI, I completely changed as I recovered! I started eating well, exercising, getting needed sleep, and I started living in the Zone! When I went to a bookstore to get some needed reading material, what did I purchase? Three books by
Barry Sears
!!! And, I didn't just read them -- I studied them!

Now, almost two years after my traumatic accident, I am devoting all my time to assisting others who have suffered TBI. And what is nearly the first thing I tell them all? Eat well! Make sure you supply yourself with the needed devices to "stay in the Zone". I tell everyone -- fish oil!!!!!! You need it!!! And make sure that you regulate the protein/carbs ratio that you ingest! This will keep your insulin level in control!!!

A few of my best friends have a nickname for me -- Dr.
ZONE
!!!!!  But, that is the best nickname in the world!!!

I will now thank the two most important people in my life. 1) The woman, Jasmine, who not only married me but guided me through the many pitfalls on the "road to recovery" from TBI. 2) Dr. Sears -- for the Zone!  For the Zone not only keeps you healthy, it also brings you back to health after an illness, or in my case, after an injury.
