Sarcoidosis

Last Updated Aug 2008

Q: I asked you about taking OmegaRx for the sarcoidosis exacerbations I have been having for about 18 years. I have taken eight capsules a day for two months, and I have noticeable shrinkage of the granulomas that are on my lower legs and arms, but the lesions on my skin (both shin areas) are still the same, so I am about to increase to 12 capsules a day on this my third month on the fish oil. My question is should I be taking the EicoPro instead of the OmegaRx, and if so, what would the dosage be?

A: EicoPro is only recommended for serious athletes. I would suggest replacing one capsule of OmegaRx with one capsule of EicoRx for the first 30 days and then check the Eicosanoid Status Report at drsears.com under Zone Resources. If you don’t have any indication of spillover, then replace another OmegaRx capsule with an EicoRx capsule for another 30 days. Keep doing this until you see the first indication of a spillover effect and then go back to the lowest number of EicoRx capsules that didn’t give rise to any indications of a build up of arachidonic acid. Usually most people will find that one-quarter to one-half of the total EPA and DHA capsules is their optimal level.
