In the Nov. 24 issue of the New York Times, Gina Kolata, the newspaper’s science editor, had some provocative statements to make about weight loss such as:

Weight control is not simply a matter of willpower.

Dieting alone is rarely successful.

  Miscarriages
All my miscarriages happened within four, six, or eight weeks. I found out that I have cardiolipin that normally should range 1-9, but mine is 40 so I need to wait to do another test after six weeks to make sure I have cardiolipin. The thought of having to take medication doesn’t please me. Do you think fish oil may be beneficial to take? Read More
Niacin
My husband’s general practitioner has prescribed 500 mg of niacin daily to increase his HDL levels. He currently is on fish oil (2 tablespoons) but still has low HDL levels (around 30). What is your experience with the results of niacin? Read More
