Former model might take up modeling again
Last Updated Aug 2007
Please let me tell you my story.
At age 18, I weighted 128 pounds and was a fashion model (5 feet 9-1/2 inches
tall). I ate whatever I wanted and never gained a pound. I had a baby at age 24.
I also smoked 1-1/2 packs of cigarettes a day until age 28 when I quit. Around
that time, the weight gain started. Because of my height, others never considered
me really overweight. However, I didn't feel attractive anymore and didn't look
great in a bathing suit. My cholesterol was rising and so was my blood pressure.
Ever since I stopped smoking, I have been involved in some type of aerobic activity
on a regular basis. For 25 years, I was the health and nutrition expert in the
family. I always followed the low fat, brown rice and vegetables, lean protein
diet. Protein, however, was more of a condiment. I was really into grains - I
even ground my own wheat and baked my own bread. Brown rice was a staple as was
pasta. After all, macrobiotics was my goal.
The funny thing is, despite all my "correct" lifestyle habits, I kept gaining
weight. It was so frustrating. I would work out every day, "eat right", and
nothing would happen. I am 51 years old now and my weight 14 weeks ago was 162.
It was then that I bought "The Zone". My husband and I (married 31 years) decided
to try it. Then I bought "Mastering the Zone". Then I bought "Zone Meals in
Minutes". Then I discovered your web site. To make a long story short, I now
weight 142. My blood pressure is down and so is my cholesterol. My husband has to
take medication for his cholesterol. His latest results from the doctor were
astounding. His HDL's are up and his triglycerides are down (substantially) for
the very first time.
The reason I am writing you this letter is to let you know that I have tried
everything in the past 25 years to no avail to accomplish what your lifestyle
eating plan has done for me in 14 weeks. This has been accomplished with very
little effort on my part. I love my meals. I eat more than enough food to feel
satisfied. Your web site recipes are great. Thank you, Dr. Sears, for the
revelation.
Whenever I try to re-educate people and tell them about the Zone, they look at me
funny, as though I'm some kind of kook. "High protein is unhealthy." "That's not
what the U.S. government food pyramid says." I now know your frustration.
Please keep up the good work. As more and more people discover your truths, word
will eventually get out. As one of your converts, I intend to spread the word -
despite the opposition. After all, I am living proof that the Zone works. All you
have to do is look at me. I'm glowing with health and I know I could go back out
and get modeling jobs again (older models are in now). My goal weight is 135 and I
know I will be there soon.
(Editor's note: Be sure to let us know when you land your first job!)
