Energy is up; cravings are gone
Last Updated Aug 2007
Hi,
My name is Anne. I am 48 years old. I have been overweight most of my life. I
married my husband, Del, and we had a little girl when I was 23 years old. My
weight had skyrocketed to 304 pounds. I was absolutely miserable. I tried every
diet imaginable. Finally out of desperation I decided to have gastric bypass
surgery. I did lose weight quickly -- I went down to 158 pounds -- but I felt
terrible, I had no energy, I could not keep any food down and I was hospitalized
numerous times for blockages in the opening to my stomach. I gradually began to
gain the weight back. Eight years later I was back to 200 pounds.
I tried Weight Watchers, the Cabbage Soup Diet, even starvation diets. Nothing
worked so I just accepted that I was going to be overweight, but I was unhappy.
Then in October 1997 I was taking a shower, and I discovered a pea-size lump on my
breast. I immediately called my doctor, and I got the worst news of my life. -- I
had stage-three breast cancer. What happened from that day in October changed my
life forever. I spent six months in Durham, N.C., at Duke Medical Center where I
received high-dose chemo, a stem cell transplant, and radiation. I had both breasts
removed. During my treatments, I went down to 160 pounds, was completely bald, and
deathly sick from the chemo treatments, but I said "I'm going to beat this." The
odds were against me, but here I am six years later and cancer-free.
I gradually gained weight after my cancer treatments, and I was getting very
worried because I knew about the link between obesity and cancer. One day last
December I was watching television, and they were talking about different diets,
and they were interviewing different actresses. I saw Jennifer Aniston talking
about the Zone. It really caught my interest so I decided to try it. My husband and
I both started the Zone on 12/13/03. Five months later we both have lost a lot of
weight and are in the best physical condition of our lives. I can honestly say on
the second day of the Zone I felt the best I've ever felt in my life. I had
unbelievable energy and no cravings. I thought to myself, "This is a miracle."
I used to sneak out of work to go and get a can of Pringles and eat the whole thing
driving back to the office. I was a junk-food junkie. Potato chips, cheese curls,
boy oh boy what I would do for those types of things back in December. It was
pitiful. I no longer have those cravings. It truly is unbelievable. My husband was
the same way. In the evening he would devour maybe a package of Oreos and some
candy bars in one sitting. He is amazed at the Zone also. He had no control over
his sweet cravings in the evening. He has lost 45 pounds and went from a 38 waist
to a 34. As for myself I have lost 30 pounds and have gone from a size 18W to a
regular 14, five clothes sizes. I never ever thought I would see myself
in a size 14, and I'm still losing and feel the best I've ever felt. I wake up in
the morning full of energy and take an hour walk. Twice a week my husband and I
lift weights.
I have to thank you, Dr. Sears. You have saved my husband's and my life. My
husband's and my blood pressure readings have gone down to normal ranges, and we
both had high blood pressure. In addition my husband has been able to stop taking
Lipitor due to the Zone. Neither of us can believe how the Zone has worked, and
it's so simple. Our daughter recently had a baby and gained quite a bit of weight,
and she just started on the Zone. She calls me every day and says, "I can't believe
how easy this is." She, too, has struggled her whole life with her weight.
Thank you again, Dr. Sears.
