Entering the pain-free Zone

Last Updated Oct 2007

At age 55 I had been on a high-protein diet, not to lose weight, but due to other circumstances. (During this time I also lived with an extreme amount of stress. I had to give up my home and move half-way around the world to watch a family member die of cancer.) Well, I did lose weight. In a few months I went from a size 14 to a 6. I was skin and bones, and I developed the screaming, screeching, crushing pain of gout in my toes, fingers and other joints. Having lost all faith in modern medicine years before, I tried an alkaline food-combining diet to raise my very low body pH, and while I went from a 5.5 pH to a 7.25 pH, the diet did nothing to stop the pain, and I continued losing weight. For three months I needed daily doses of ibuprophen to cope with the pain, but I was still unable to button buttons, or open jars.

Then, looking for an audio book to play on an ipod I had been given, I stumbled across the Anti-Inflammation Zone. Within days of starting the Zone Diet and taking large doses of highly refined fish oil, my pain was completely gone! After several months in the Zone, I have gained some weight and no longer look like a skeleton. My blood pressure, which had skyrocketed, is once again in the normal range. I am now able to do everything I could 20 years ago, including walking for miles without any discomfort, and I take no medications. Thank you, Dr. Sears, for saving my life!
