EicoRx, statins and baby aspirin

Last Updated Feb 2008

Dear Dr. Sears:

Q: I am taking 5 grams of EicoRx and 20 mlg. of pravastatina. (As soon my cholesterol gets lower, I will stop pravastatina). I am taking Boniva (150), one tablet a month. I would like to know if I can take one baby aspirin every day at the same time. I am 69 years old.

A: I would suggest taking one-half a baby aspirin a day. When combined with the EicoRx, it will help produce a new class of anti-inflammatory eicosanoids known as resolvins. These anti-inflammatory eicosanoids will reduce the inflammation associated with osteoporosis.
