Exercise Is ADHD Medication

Physical movement improves mental focus, memory, and cognitive flexibility; new research shows just how critical it is to academic performance. Mental exercises to build (or rebuild)attention span have shown promise recently as adjuncts or alternatives to amphetamines in addressing symptoms common to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

As pointed out in the article, exercise increases dopamine as does high-dose fish oil. Perhaps putting physical education programs back in schools, eliminating driving kids to school instead of having them walk to school and taking their fish oil before leaving for school may be a better, low-cost solution to ADHD than increased drugs and special-education classes.
