With home-cooked meals you have pretty good idea of what they contain. When someone cooks the meals, it is buyer beware as every trick in the book that makes outside meals tasty usually encourages overeating.  Also reducing distractions at any meal will lead to less mindless eating and therefore a lower calorie intake.
