The obesity epidemic is too complicated for simplistic fixes like fast-food bans

Limiting the number of standalone fast-food restaurants in a neighborhood can improve its looks, but no one should be surprised when such a policy doesn't do much about obesity. For many reasons, it was silly to think that it would.

Unlike politicians who don’t realize that obesity is a very complicated metabolic and epigenetic problem exaggerated by an increasingly pro-inflammatory diet, we will continue to try to make simplistic (but costly) “solutions” to a vastly more complex problem and then wonder why they don’t work.
